Do you meet the requirements to be a nanny or caregiver in Canada? In order to meet the requirements, you must:
- Apply for a work permit as a live-in caregiver before entering Canada;
- Have successfully completed a course of study that is the equivalent to the successful completion of secondary school in Canada. The equivalent of Canadian secondary school for applicants from Hong Kong, the People's Republic of China or the Philippines are: - successful completion of Form VI in Hong Kong; successful completion of Senior Middle School in the People's Republic of China; or successful completion of high school and two years of post-secondary education (college or university) in the Philippines
- Have the following training or experinece, in a field or occupation related to the employment for which the work permit is sought, namely, (i) successful completion of six months of full-time training in a classroom setting, or (ii) completion of one year of full-time paid employment including at least six months of continuous employment with one employer, in such a field or occupation within the three years immediately before the day on which they submit an application for a work permit;
- Have the ability to speak, read and listen to English or French at a level sufficient to communicate effectively in an unsupervised setting; and
- Have an employment contract with their future employer

- Always act in good faith towards the family who employs you.
- Be hardworking, honest, dilligent, curteous and respectful.
- Follow the family household rules.
- Treat all members of the household with compassion.
- Be friendly and easy to get along with.
- Be committed to the family who employs you.
